New single release! Celebrating Pride Month 2022, my single LIONS is available to download below. This song celebrates courage and diversity, it's an anthem calling for an inclusive and vibrant world regardless of gender, orientation, nationality or colour. Let's wave our flags of identity with Pride!
My wife Frankie asked me to write about how the pandemic has changed our lives, communities and attitudes towards each other. I wanted to capture the strength of people living and working in difficult times and situations. “Lions” is my alternative love song for Pride Month and beyond: a song about kindness, acceptance, gratitude and love for everyone!
The Game of Life starts the moment we are born. We don’t choose our background. You have no say in the hand you are dealt in life. How you play your hand determines your life.

It's about fires caused by arson in my hometown of Eston, North Yorkshire, England. ALL wildfires are made worse from global warming and lack of rainfall in crucial areas at crucial times. We're raising awareness of environmental issues with CAT,Cleveland Archaeology Trust who run not-for-profit projects in Cleveland, North East England. This song is about true identity. It was written at a time when your destiny was chosen for you based on your background and education or lack of it. Ambition and individuality were often stifled, you had to fight to be who you wanted to be.
Our inner self consists of hidden personas, like Russian dolls. The different facets of our personality are often revealed in extreme situations. And they can be good or bad because the circumstance dictates your reaction.
In an age of social media we show a public facade. Often people are afraid to show their true self, and this is about having the courage to be authentic, to be the person you really are....more
Recorded and mastered for this century! An ode to Lambretta scooters, parkas, smart suits and being “sharp”. Us working class mods spent our wages on made to measure suits, music and clubbing. It was all about fashion and style, escaping your daily life. The sharper you looked, the better your chances of dancing with a girl down the club!
The late 70’s mod revival and film Quadrophenia made this the perfect time for The Stilettos to release This Is The Way, in November 1979. It’s a flippant nod to the 60’s, “Whiskey a Go Go” was a Manchester club of the same name back then (based on the one in Hollywood). Go Go dancers grooving to great music. Superman aka Clark Kent on the big screen, the dream of winning the Football Pools!
Enjoy This Is The Way. It’s a modernist classic!...more
My supportive words to a boy who was racially abused became This Land.
It’s an anti-racism anthem for today’s society. During Black History Month, this is the time to reflect on what we can do to fight prejudice and inequality based on skin colour and heritage. Racism is not a “black” or “ethnic” issue, it’s a human issue. We need to stand up in unity against it. Let’s use the power of music and songs to do this!...more
A song inspired by the loneliness people felt during lockdown. The impact of the pandemic has affected us all, so let's show compassion, love and support not just today World Mental Health Day, but 365 days of the year.
Thanks to Jamie Brown for a fantastic guitar solo on this track!
Full song and video!
My first single since lockdown restrictions removed. I wrote this song about having a voice to express your opinions. Identity is at the heart of this song, about being accepted for who we are no matter our heritage or background.
On World Humanitarian Day, 19 August 2021, it drives the message that not everyone in the World has freedom of speech or indeed, freedom itself....more
The different facets of love inspired me to write this song.
Love can take us by surprise. You think you are “just good friends” with someone until a twist of fate shows a different light on the situation.
The song is saying: life is short, take a leap of faith and don’t be afraid, “it’s only love”!
This is Eston Hills, North Yorkshire on fire. A natural landscape being destroyed by arsonists and climate change

The Stiletto Years
Back in 1977 I joined a band as lead singer and songwriter, singing covers at clubs and pubs across the North of England. My own songs went down a storm and The Stilettos was born! Line-up: Me, lead singer songwriter and rhythm guitar, Tommy, lead guitar and backing vocals, Cliff on drums, his cousin Alan on bass. These songs are digitised from cassettes (remember them?!) About life from an industrial working class perspective. The raw sound and energy of '70's British power pop, these songs are about class divisions, identity, love and life! And we can all relate to that can't we?
