This is Eston Hills, North Yorkshire on fire. A natural landscape being destroyed by arsonists and climate change. Eston Hills, North Yorkshire, England is being ravaged by arson attacks and damaged by vandals and fly-tipping. The issue is made worse by drier climates due to global warming. On Earth Day 2024 let's take action and be kinder to the planet! I grew up and played on Eston Hills. It's a small part of bigger landscapes of the World. Yet everywhere is someone's home. Help me preserve this special piece of the land for future generations to enjoy. The senseless destruction of an important heritage site inspired me to write this song. Ambition and individuality were often stifled, you had to fight to be who you wanted to be. Our inner self consists of hidden personas, like Russian dolls. The different facets of our personality are often revealed in extreme situations. And they can be good or bad because the circumstance dictates your reaction. It was all about fashion and style, escaping your daily life. The sharper you looked, the better your chances of dancing with a girl down the club! The late 70’s mod revival and film Quadrophenia made this the perfect time for The Stilettos to release This Is The Way, in November 1979. It’s a flippant nod to the 60’s, “Whiskey a Go Go” was a Manchester club of the same name back then (based on the one in Hollywood). Go Go dancers grooving to great music. It’s an anti-racism anthem for today’s society. During Black History Month, this is the time to reflect on what we can do to fight prejudice and inequality based on skin colour and heritage.
